The THE World University Rankings With Citations Set to Not Important

The THE rankings Iphone app has the excellent feature of allowing users to adjust the weightings of the five indicator groups. This is the top 200 when the citations -- research impact indicator is set to 'not important'. The number in brackets on the right is the position in the official ranking.

The app is pretty weak for NZ$6.49. There are 13 categories and we only get to deal with 5 aggregated categories. Also it is analogue-only so there is no way to select weights exactly. Why they don't just publish the spreadsheet of all data I don't really know. Of course Thomson Reuters want to make money selling back to universities the data that they were given for free. Very like journal publishers. But it is not a good way to advance the "science" of rankings.

On another note, I noticed that Leiden are revising their "crown ranking". The paper that discusses this (on arXiv.org) shows that the previous version is badly flawed.

Finally, THE seems to use something like the crown indicator, but they rank my university 99th on citations whereas Leiden has it at 287th. I would very much like to know what is going on there.
